Sime Darby Bags Two Awards At ACCA Malaysia Sustainability Reporting Awards (MaSRA) 2015
Kuala Lumpur, 1 December 2015 – Sime Darby Berhad and Sime Darby Property won two main awards at the ACCA Malaysia Sustainability Reporting Awards 2015 (ACCA MaSRA 2015).

Sime Darby Berhad took home the Best Reporting Within An Annual Report Award for its inaugural Integrated Reporting of the Sime Darby Annual Report 2014, while Sime Darby Property won the Best First-Time Stand-Alone Sustainability Report Award for its first Sime Darby Property Sustainability Report 2014. In 2013, Sime Darby Berhad bagged the ACCA MaSRA First Time Reporter award for its Sustainability Report 2011 while last year it received commendation for reporting on its sustainability strategy.

The ACCA MaSRA rewards companies for excellence in sustainability reporting including covering; economic, environmental and social dimensions of sustainability. The awards recognise organisations that have integrated sustainability into their business strategy and value chain, putting sustainable and inclusive growth at the heart of their business culture.

Commenting on the double win, Sime Darby’s President and Group Chief Executive Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohd Bakke Salleh dedicated the awards to Sime Darby’s customers and employees who fully supported the company’s sustainability agenda and valued the transparency of the company’s sustainability reporting.

“Sustainability is a journey of continuous improvements and we are pleased that our customers and employees are equally committed to embark on this journey with us. We are continuously striving to drive a sustainable business strategy that focuses on the added value and long-term outcomes that can be delivered through being sustainable,” said Tan Sri Bakke.

Acting Managing Director of Sime Darby Property Dato’ Ir Jauhari Hamidi said that it was an honour for Sime Darby Property to be recognised for its maiden effort in sustainability reporting.

“Meticulous steps have been taken to ensure sustainability concerns are addressed in the report, either from a baseline perspective or in accordance to measurable terms. The report reinforces the fact that sustainability remains at the core of our business practice and strategy, and a key component of its design and management approach. Our aim is to walk the talk and ensure our vision to be the leader in building sustainable communities are realised,” said Dato’ Ir Jauhari.

Sime Darby Property’s report meets the requirements of the International Sustainability Reporting Guidelines (G4.0), the international standard for sustainability reporting. It embodies the company’s public disclosure on sustainability performance and reflects how sustainability is progressively embedded within its business processes, delivering sustainable value in its products and services.

Besides Sime Darby Berhad and Sime Darby Property, Sime Darby Plantation was also one of the  20 companies which were shortlisted among 51 organisations for the various categories namely Best Workplace Practices, Best Reporting within an Annual Report, Best First-Time Standalone Report, Best Sustainability Reporting in SMEs and Best Standalone Sustainability Report.
