Sime Darby Property launches Auxiliary Police unit to enhance security across townships
Improved CCTV facility in Ara Damansara also handed over to the Royal Malaysian Police

ARA DAMANSARA, 1 June 2016 - Sime Darby Property launched its Auxiliary Police unit today, in line with efforts to enhance the level of security in its townships and developments.

The first batch of the Sime Darby Property Auxiliary Police unit, comprising 32 personnel, attended an inauguration ceremony at Sime Darby Property here today, witnessed by Deputy Inspector General of Police Dato’ Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim and Sime Darby Property Managing Director Dato’ Ir. Jauhari Hamidi.

The Sime Darby Property Auxiliary Police personnel underwent a two-month basic Auxiliary Police course at the Police Training Centre (PULAPOL) in Bukit Sentosa, Rawang. They will be posted to selected Sime Darby Property townships and developments in Elmina East, Bandar Bukit Raja, Bukit Jelutong and the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC).

Sime Darby Property Managing Director Dato’ Ir. Jauhari Hamidi said: “The introduction of the Sime Darby Property Auxiliary Police unit is part of our approach to reinforce the security at all current and future Sime Darby Property townships, with the aim of creating a safer environment for the communities. The first batch will be deployed to selected townships and developments for now and we plan to expand the unit with more trained personnel being deployed across all our townships soon.”

The establishment of an Auxiliary Police unit in Sime Darby Property is to augment the present security service system at all its townships, developments and assets, as well as to assist the Royal Malaysian Police (RMP) to combat crime effectively.

It is also in support of the government’s National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) to enhance the health, safety and security needs of the nation.

Deputy Inspector General of Police, Dato’ Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim said, “Partnerships allow leveraging of resources to meet common goals. At the core of this collaboration, is how the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) help business corporations like Sime Darby Property to enhance its capacity and capability to contribute towards communal safety and public security. In this regard, the setting up of Sime Darby Property’s Auxiliary Police is seen as an extension of the RMP’s presence within a township. We applaud Sime Darby Property’s effort and dedication in enhancing the security and safety of the community, which is in line with the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) that places great emphasis on safety and security of the rakyat.”

In 2009, Sime Darby Property pioneered a comprehensive “Safe City” initiative for the Ara Damansara township. The initiative included 24-hour surveillance by a network of strategically located solar powered closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras linked to the township’s own police station, which was built by Sime Darby Property.

The CCTV facility is part of the Safe City initiative between Sime Darby Property and the police to boost security within the township and creating a harmonious community in Ara Damansara.

Sime Darby Property recently upgraded and enhanced the CCTV facility and at the event today, the facility was handed over to the Royal Malaysian Police, which was duly accepted by the Deputy Inspector General of Police.

“Sime Darby Property is committed to improve the security within all our townships, for peace of mind of the communities residing in our townships. We are continuously proactive, providing excellent infrastructure, facilities and amenities including security and safety features within all our townships, to ensure a conducive living environment for everyone,” Dato’ Ir. Jauhari Hamidi added.
