  • The Group was named ‘Responsible Developer’ at The Edge Malaysia Best Managed & Sustainable Property Awards (“BMSPA”) 2025;
  • Bandar Bukit Raja Wetland Townpark and Elmina Rainforest Knowledge Centre recognised for championing biodiversity and sustainable placemaking at BMSPA 2025 and The Star ESG Positive Impact Awards 2025 respectively.

ARA DAMANSARA, 16 July 2025 – Sime Darby Property Berhad’s (“Sime Darby Property” or the “Group”) purposeful investment in sustainability has been recognised with key wins from two industry awards, a testament to the Group’s commitment in championing urban biodiversity and excellence.

Sime Darby Property’s Group Chief Financial Officer,  Betty Lau Sui Hing (centre) accepting The Edge Malaysia’s Responsible Developer: Building Sustainable Development Award 2025, a testament to the Group’s continued leadership in creating developments that are designed, built, and maintained with sustainability at their core.

At The Edge Malaysia Best Managed & Sustainable Property Awards 2025 (“BMSPA”), the Group was awarded the night’s highest honour by securing The Edge Malaysia’s Responsible Developer: Building Sustainable Development Award 2025 category, marking our return to this prestigious title since 2021. This recognition highlights the Group’s continued leadership in creating developments that are designed, built, and maintained with sustainability at their core.

The Bandar Bukit Raja Wetland Townpark, located within the award-winning Bandar Bukit Raja township, received two prestigious honours: the Editor’s Choice Award for Excellence in Green Blue Infrastructure category and Gold for The Edge Malaysia – ILAM (Institute of Landscape Architects Malaysia) Sustainable Landscape Awards (Landscape Planning) category. A national benchmark for climate-adaptive landscape design, the Wetland Townpark demonstrates Sime Darby Property’s integration of nature-based solutions and sustainable landscape planning that prioritises both ecological health and community well-being.

Award

The Bandar Bukit Raja Wetland Townpark, located within the award-winning Bandar Bukit Raja township, received the Editor’s Choice Award for Excellence in Green Blue Infrastructure category.  Accepting the award on behalf of Sime Darby Property were Chief Operating Officer – Township Development, Appollo Leong (fourth from left); and Deputy Chief Operating Officer – Township Development, TS. Faizal A. Hamid (third from left).

Organised annually by The Edge Malaysia, BMSPA, now in its ninth instalment, celebrates Malaysian property management practices against best-in-class global standards. The awards have consistently raised the bar for the industry, emphasising the need for Malaysian real estate to be designed, built, and maintained sustainably.

Separately, the Group’s Elmina Rainforest Knowledge Centre (“ERKC”) was recognised with a Silver award in the Biodiversity Conservation (Large Companies) category at The Star ESG Positive Impact Awards 2025. The ERKC serves as a platform for ecological education, public awareness, and regeneration, forming a key component of the Elmina Urban Biodiversity Corridor, which connects, conserves, and regenerates vital ecosystems within the township.

The ESG Positive Impact Awards, organised by The Star Media Group, recognises organisations and initiatives that are making tangible progress across environmental, social, and governance (”ESG”) pillars. Judged by a panel of ESG experts, the awards aim to spotlight and showcase Malaysian companies whose ESG practices have made a demonstratively positive impact on the community.
