ARA DAMANSARA, 12 JUNE 2026 – Sime Darby Property Berhad (“Sime Darby Property” or “the Group”) has won the World Gold Award under the ‘Retail’ category for its Elmina Lakeside Mall at the 2026 FIABCI World Prix d'Excellence Awards held in Vienna, Austria recently. The international recognition positions Elmina Lakeside Mall among leading global retail developments, and validates Sime Darby Property’s approach to creating connected township ecosystems where retail, community, recreation and nature are planned as a single, integrated experience.

Organised by Fédération Internationale des Administrateurs de Biens-Conselis Immobiliers (“FIABCI”), the FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards recognises best-in-class developments globally, assessed by an international panel of real estate professionals and industry experts. Developments are evaluated holistically, beyond design and scale, including functionality, impact and overall value delivered.

Elmina Lakeside Mall integrates retail, recreation, community spaces and nature within a connected township ecosystem, creating a vibrant destination at the heart of Elmina City Centre.

Located within the award-winning City of Elmina, Elmina Lakeside Mall was designed around the concept of “mall in a park, park in a mall”, seamlessly integrating retail, leisure, and community spaces within a walkable, nature-led environment.

The open-air retail development spans 52 acres across nine blocks of single- and double-storey buildings, offering approximately 214,000 sq. ft. of net lettable retail space and serves as the commercial heart of the 350-acre Elmina City Centre. The mall achieved full occupancy within eight months of its soft opening in August 2024 and currently serves a catchment of approximately 1,000,000 residents.

Elmina Central Park serves as a vibrant community space, supporting the integrated lifestyle and recreational offerings of Elmina Lakeside Mall.

Beyond retail, the development incorporates community-focused amenities including indoor and outdoor event spaces, a lakeside promenade, and direct connectivity to the adjoining 35-acre Urban Park.

In line with Sime Darby Property’s Sustainability Strategy and Roadmap 2030 (“SSR2030”), Elmina Lakeside Mall achieved GreenRE Silver certification, while its Sales Gallery attained GreenRE Platinum certification. The development also incorporates sustainable design features, including solar-ready roofing, LED lighting, water-efficient fittings, EV charging bays and bicycle-friendly accessibility.

The World Gold Award follows Elmina Lakeside Mall’s success at the FIABCI Malaysia Property Award 2025, where the development received the Gold Award in the ‘Retail’ category before advancing to represent Malaysia at the global stage.
