A New Apple Campus at Battersea Power Station
The shareholders of Battersea Power Station, Sime Darby, SP Setia and EPF, confirm that Apple has agreed to lease office space within the historic Battersea Power Station.

The Battersea Power Station shareholders have confirmed that Apple will be the largest office tenant at Battersea Power Station occupying approximately 500,000 sqft. of space, across 6 floors of the central Boiler House inside the historic icon. Apple is expected to move into the Power Station in 2021.

Battersea Power Station will be Apple’s new London campus and its office will account for circa 40% of the total office space in the whole development.

Apple has today said it is looking forward to opening its new London campus at Battersea Power Station in 2021. 1400 Apple employees from existing offices around London will relocate to this magnificent new development at one of London’s best known landmarks. Apple has added, that this is a great opportunity to have its entire team working and collaborating in one location while supporting the renovation of a neighbourhood rich with history.

It is understood that the transaction represents the largest office letting in London’s wider West End in the last twenty years.

Dato’ Johan Ariffin, Chairman of Battersea Holding Company Limited, said:
We are delighted to welcome Apple, the world’s most valuable brand, to Battersea Power Station, London’s most iconic development. This move by a brand of such calibre will serve to generate even more interest in Battersea with its vibrant mix of commercial, exciting retail and residential offerings in a cultural setting designed to drive innovation and enterprise. Apple can only strengthen this formula for success.

The Battersea Power Station development extends to over 42 acres of prime riverside land which is being regenerated to accommodate what is the largest mixed-use project in Central London, where people from all over the world will live, work and play.

Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London:
I am delighted that Apple is moving into Battersea Power Station, helping to generate new jobs and economic prosperity for Londoners. It is a further sign that London is open to the biggest brands in the world and the leading city for trade and investment.

The award-winning project, which is now under construction, has planning consent for over 8.5m sqft. of space which is split approximately 50:50 between commercial uses and residential.

The commercial element is populated by shops, restaurants, hotels, arts and event spaces and will also include the largest new office district in Central London.

Cllr Ravi Govindia, Leader of the London Borough of Wandsworth:
I’m very pleased to give Apple a warm welcome to the London Borough of Wandsworth. Apple will become the largest employer in the Borough and we are hugely excited that they will play a keen and active role in our local community.

At the heart of the development is the historic Sir Giles Gilbert Scott designed Battersea Power Station, a Grade 2* listed former coal-fired power station which is being meticulously restored in consultation with Historic England and will include the Apple office accommodation.

The vast structure - the largest brick building in Europe - will include 2m sqft. of new space designed by architects WilkinsonEyre and also includes 253 new homes.

To the north of the Power Station will be a six-acre public riverside park, and to the south will be a piazza style town square designed by BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group - known as Malaysia Square, which links to the Electric Boulevard and the new London Underground station located at the development.

The Power Station is located just minutes from Chelsea and the neighbouring 200-acre Battersea Park, both of which are easily reached by foot via Chelsea Bridge and the Thames footpath respectively. The new River Bus operating from Battersea Power Station will service the West End and The City from the Autumn 2017.

In addition to upgraded mainline train services operating from Battersea Park and Queenstown Road, a new Zone 1 tube station is currently under construction, which will serve people working and living at the Power Station and the surrounding area. Tunnel boring machines will arrive on-site later in 2016 and the new underground station will be operational in 2020.

Across the entire project there are 8 development phases.  Phase 1, which is called Circus West, comprises 865 homes, 23 restaurants and shops. The first homeowners will begin moving in at the end of 2016 and the first new commercial tenants will open in Spring 2017. The leasing strategy has been specifically targeting local, independent, artisan retailers and restaurateurs to bring a level of authenticity to the project.

Battersea Power Station is owned by Malaysian shareholders Sime Darby, SP Setia and The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) whose commitment has undoubtedly unlocked the site’s potential. The development is managed by British based Battersea Power Station Development Company.
