Pagoh Education Hub Welcomes First Batch of 5,000 Students
PAGOH, 19 October 2017 - Bandar Universiti Pagoh (BUP) has welcomed its first batch of more than 5,000 students, a major milestone in the development of Malaysia’s first ever township that is seamlessly integrated with a higher education hub.

Located in Pagoh, a town in Muar, Johor, the Pagoh Education Hub (PEH) houses renowned universities namely Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and Politeknik Tun Syed Nasir which offer diploma, degree and postgraduate degree courses.

PEH covers an area of approximately 506 acres and will have sustainable features that will raise the quality of life for students and staff alike. It will be a pedestrian- friendly area with restricted vehicle access, dedicated bicycle lanes, covered walkways, a centralised parking area and shuttle bus services.

Sime Darby Property General Manager Mohamad Jalani Mohamad Said said,“We are thrilled that the first batch of students have arrived at their respective universities here in the Pagoh Education Hub in September. The educational facilities are all ready and have been handed over to the respective university administrations. BUP will be a vibrant community of knowledge seekers, supported by well-designed and sustainable housing and infrastructure.”

The vast Campus in PEH is equipped with shared facilities such as a library, convention centre, multipurpose hall, sports complex, data centre and guest house, as well as a student village. Other complementary components such as R&D centres, commercial hubs, residential developments and a Managed Business Park will be developed in phases within BUP over 10-15 years.

Residential developments in BUP include Harmoni Vista 1 and Harmoni Vista 2, launched in June 2016 and January 2017 respectively, both of which are 20’ x 65’ double-storey linked homes. Harmoni Vista 1, comprising 206 units and Harmoni Vista 2, comprising 177 units, have seen take-up rates of 97% and 92% respectively. The first batch of Harmoni Vista 1 homes is targeted to be handed over to owners in June 2018. An upcoming launch for a new double-storey linked home development in BUP is tentatively slated for March 2018.

The first commercial development in BUP, Sarjana Square, comprises 35 units of 2 and 3 storey shop offices, which were completed in June 2017 and targeted to be handed over to owners in October 2017.

Located at the heart of the universities and student village will be Sarjana Promenade, 2 and 3 storey shop offices set to be launched at the end of October 2017. There will be ample parking spaces provided for customers, as well as side pedestrian and cycling paths to suit the campus lifestyle and encourage healthy living.

The 238-acre Managed Business Park is located at the southern-most part of BUP. Its prime location fronting the North-South Expressway offers excellent accessibility. Envisioned to be a future model, the Business Park combines sustainability features and a conducive environment for the innovation-seeking business community. Furthermore, wide service roads, pocket gardens and green verges, as well as security guard and CCTV services are provided within the Business Park.

“Bandar Universiti Pagoh is poised to be a world-class education hub and viable investment destination with quality residential offerings, vibrant retail options and a modern business environment all set within an inclusive master plan” added Jalani.

Spanning over 4,082 acres and centrally located between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, BUP is strategically accessible and located off the Pagoh Interchange on the North-South Expressway. In addition, Muar will benefit from the Kuala Lumpur - Singapore High Speed Rail (HSR) link project, as it has been identified as one of the transit locations en route to the final stop in Singapore, thus significantly enhancing connectivity to Bandar Universiti Pagoh.
