Sime Darby Property’s Auxiliary Police Unit Celebrates Seven Years of Service with an Honourary Parade
  • 90 Auxiliary Police personnel were honoured for their performance and frontline duty to the community;
  • The significant occasion demonstrates the cooperation and rapport between Sime Darby Property and the PDRM.

ARA DAMANSARA, 1 AUGUST 2023: Sime Darby Property Berhad (“Sime Darby Property” or “Company”) commemorated the seventh anniversary of its Auxiliary Police (“AP”) unit with an honorary parade at Universiti Putra Malaysia (“UPM”) in Serdang.

Sime Darby Property’s Group Managing Director, Dato’ Azmir Merican (seventh from right) emphasised the crucial role played by APs in safeguarding the Company’s operations and assets and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting its personnel through continuous training and development opportunities.

A total of 90 APs were recognised for their distinguished track record of community service, particularly in maintaining law and order by protecting personnel and properties from potential threats as well as providing security checks, patrolling and guarding services across Sime Darby Property’s premises and townships across the country.

Sime Darby Property’s Group Managing Director, Dato’ Azmir Merican emphasised the crucial role played by APs in safeguarding the Company’s operations and assets and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting its personnel through continuous training and development opportunities.

“The safety and well-being of our communities, residents and business community across our 25 townships and developments are of the utmost importance, and we thank our Auxiliary Police for upkeeping them,” said Dato’ Azmir Merican.

He added: “Auxiliary Police officers directly impact our community, dedicating their services to ensure our townships are safe for residents to live and thrive. The very essence of the Auxiliary Police lies in their unwavering commitment to bolstering PDRM's efforts in safeguarding their designated areas. As our formidable allies, they serve as a crucial pillar in fortifying communities and protecting our nation.”

There are 126 active personnel currently serving Sime Darby Property’s AP unit, of which 97 are male and 29 are female officers.
 
Sime Darby Property’s AP unit was founded in 2015 and granted its official approval for establishment from the PDRM on 25 May 2016. There are 126 active personnel currently serving the unit, of which 97 are male and 29 are female officers.

PDRM’s Selangor Police Chief, CP Dato’ Hussein Omar Khan said the federal police force entrusts every AP officer to carry out their tasks with the utmost sincerity and dedication in preserving the peace of the country.

“Auxiliary Police officers are a symbol of safety. They play a crucial role in ensuring public security as a law enforcement entity, and the PDRM and communities benefit greatly from the support, dedication and value they give,” said Dato’ Hussein.

He added: “United in purpose, Auxiliary Police officers stand as a shining testament to the strength and resilience of a nation safeguarded by the harmony between its protectors and its people."

Also in attendance at the event were Selangor Deputy Police Chief, DCP Dato’ Sasikala Devi Subramaniam; Selangor Contingent Police Headquarters’ Head of Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department, SAC Mohd Zaini Abu Hassan; UPM’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Community Relations), Prof. Dr. Ir. B.T. Hang Tuah Baharudin and Malaysia Auxiliary Police Association’s (“MAPA”) President, Tuan Haji Mohd Razali Abd Aziz.
