“It’s an extremely exciting year for Battersea Power Station as we prepare to open the iconic Grade II* listed building to the public for the very first time this September, and these celebrations for the Platinum Jubilee offer the perfect opportunity to welcome members of the local community and those from further afield to discover the vibrant new riverside neighbourhood we’re creating here.”

The Queen visited Battersea Power Station in 1946, when the former coal-fired Power Station was still in operation, meeting with the Power Station’s Directors for a behind the scenes tour of Turbine Hall A and Control Room A. The landmark is also known for providing electricity to many notable locations across London whilst in operation, including Buckingham Palace.

The opening will coincide with the launch of this exciting riverside neighbourhood’s new high street, Electric Boulevard, which will offer a mix of office space, shops, bars and restaurants, a 164-room hotel, and a community centre.
